Every child is powerful, wise, funny, and capable of deep artistic expression. It's our job as parents, teachers and adults to prove it to them.
As a child, I was not met or validated with what I offered. I never had a teacher who saw me the way I truly was and helped me be more of that. I would be willing to bet that this is true for many of you as well. Even today, our school system focuses on the average and tries to get all of the children to fit within it. Children are expected to be well rounded but then expected to specialize when they are adults.
Have you ever met a well-rounded adult?
Ideally, the school system would discover how each child learned and then taught them in that way. Teachers would be honored by our administration and not overwhelmed with too many students and not enough resources...and decent pay.
I created Fire Mountain Programs to support schools, parents and most of all, the children.
